The Rev. Laurence G. Byrne

Rector

The Rev. Laurence Goodwin Byrne was born and raised with his four siblings in Wilmington, Delaware. He graduated from the Tower Hill School and went on to receive a BA, cum laude, in English from the University of Delaware. After college, he joined the faculty of The Forman School in Litchfield, Connecticut where he taught English and served in numerous other capacities. He returned to Delaware to serve as Director of Christian Education and Youth at Christ Church, Christiana Hundred. In 1991, he entered Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Virginia where he earned his Master of Divinity degree. Following his ordination to the diaconate in 1994, he became Curate at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Fairfield, Connecticut, and was ordained to the priesthood in 1995. In 1999, Fr. Byrne accepted the call to be Rector of The Parish of Christ’s Church in Easton, Connecticut. Later, he joined the staff of St. Paul’s in Riverside. Throughout his ministry in Connecticut Fr. Byrne was active in the Bridgeport Deanery and in the Diocese. Fr. Byrne, his wife Susan, and their son Teddy first came to All Saints, Bayside in 2005. He was made Priest-in-Charge in December of 2005, and was elected Rector in January of 2011. In addition to his duties as Rector of the parish, Fr. Byrne is active in the Diocese of Long Island. He serves as the chaplain to the Diocesan Altar Guild, is a member of the Board of Managers of Camp DeWolfe, the Second Vice-President of the National Altar Guild, and is the co-founder of the Flushing Deanery Youth Fellowship.

The Rev. Marjorie Boyden-Edmonds

Deacon

The Rev. Marjorie Boyden-Edmonds is Chaplain at the University Medical Center in Hoboken, NJ. Marjorie was ordained to the Diaconate in 2015. Since then, she has served as Deacon for the Flushing Deanery. Although we share Marjorie with four other parishes, she is an important part of the ministry of All Saints. She oversees the Episcopal Church Women, created our bereavement support group, and assists with liturgy and preaching.

Arkady Leytush

Organist / Choirmaster

A well known and gifted conductor, Leytush has directed orchestras in Europe and the United States to great acclaim. Critics as have described him as “a conductor in the Grand Russian Tradition” and his dynamic interpretations have made him an audience favorite. Leytush’s artistry is known throughout the former Soviet Union, but it was not until 1994 that he gained recognition in the United States when he, on a week’s notice, made a stunning debut with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, replacing Yuri Temirkanov. Leytush joined the staff at All Saints in Holy Week of 2015. He led us through the most challenging music week of the year seamlessly. Since then, he has worked consistently and successfully to improve the choir and has brought it to a much higher performance level. In addition to being a performer, Mr. Leytush is an accomplished composer and arranger. He wrote an anthem specifically for the 125th anniversary of All Saints which was debuted in 2017.

Nancy McCarthy

Parish Secretary / Bookkeeper

Nancy McCarthy has been with All Saints since 2003. She started as our receptionist, but the job quickly expanded. She is now not only the first person many folks encounter at All Saints, but is also our bookkeeper and manages the parish office.

Church School

Susan Byrne

Church School Director

Susan Byrne has has served as the Church School Director at All Saints for over 10 years. Susan holds both a BS and an MS in Early Childhood Education from Queens College. She served as a Head Teacher at the St. Paul’s Nursery School of Fairfield, CT for over twenty years. Prior to coming to All Saints, Susan led and directed multiple church schools. At All Saints, she has designed a curriculum that meets the changing needs and age groups of the Church School, guides the Church School teachers, directs the Christmas pageant, and assists in leading the St. Nicholas Choir.

Judy Batashoff

Senior Warden

Judy is an energetic member of the parish who has entered into the mission and ministry of the parish enthusiastically. She brings with her previous Vestry experience, having served on the Vestry at Grace Episcopal Church, Whitestone, NY. She is married to Michael Batashoff and her sons, Christopher and Daniel, are both active members at All Saints and both serve as Acolytes and are members of the Flushing Deanery Youth Fellowship.

Kem Rutledge

Junior Warden

Kem has been a member of All Saints since 1979. She has been involved in numerous ministries over the years, including prior service on the vestry and two prior terms as Junior Warden. Currently, Kem is bringing a second generation of children through All Saints, and is a chalice bearer and a member of the Altar Guild. She helps to manage our Thrift Shop (an important outreach ministry of the parish) and is our Delegate to Convention.

Robert Earle

Treasurer

Robert Earle was born in Jamaica, West Indies, but grew up in Wilmington, Delaware. He has worked for Citigroup for 15 years in several positions in their cash management division, the last five of which have been spent in sales in their public sector group focusing on non profit organizations. He currently holds a Bachelors and a MBA in Finance Management from Goldey-Beacom College and has been a member of the Association of Financial Professionals. Robert currently lives in Queens with his wife Sharon, and their children Daren and Dominique.

Karen Friedl

Karen has been an active member of All Saints since 2005. Prior to joining All Saints she was a vestry member and a Warden at St. Paul’s, Whitestone for many years. Karen is a past Treasurer and a devoted member of the choir and altar guild and serves on many committees.

Brianne Leslie

Member

Brianne has been an active member of All Saints for several years. She is an “8 O’Clocker” and attends as many parish events as her busy work schedule allows. She is a lector and has served as a chalice bearer. Professionally, Brianne is a massage therapist. She is also an emergency response chaplain with the Red Cross. Brianne brings vestry experience from a previous parish.

Megan Monfiston

Member

Megan Monfiston is a life-long, active member of All Saints, holds a B.S. in Photojournalism from St. John’s University and works as a Photo Researcher/Photo Editor for Scholastic, Inc. in Manhattan. As a student, Megan attended a number of different religious schools. Her experiences helped her to become “more knowledgeable about other religions but also made me grow to appreciate my own faith even more.” Megan further states, “All Saints is my family and I do my best to make sure that my family is in the best possible position to grow and thrive as long as possible.”

Marc Palmieri

Member

Although he was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays, Marc’s career path has been more on stage, on the written page, and in the halls of academia than on the baseball diamond. He is a talented actor, author, and an Instructor at Mercy College. Marc, his wife Kristen, and their daughters Anna and Nora have been active members of All Saints since 2015. Marc knows a lot about teamwork and brings a unique skill set and strong faith to the vestry.

Diana Schillizzi

Member

Diana has been a member of All Saints since 1992. She has an impressive and varied business career and served the parish in many ways. These include: being a Licensed Eucharistic Minister, vestry secretary and treasurer, chairing “Elsie’s Comer” for many years, producing the 120th Anniversary cookbook, and being de facto Sacristan. Diane has a desire to continue helping the parish grow and to continue to care for God’s people within and beyond our parish bounds.

Kerrie Sheridan

Karrie is a lawyer who has been a faithful and active member of All Saints for almost ten years. She is a Church School teacher and takes part fully in the liturgical life of the church.
